solstone 0.8.3 shipped July 10 with the biggest change yet to how sol thinks: local is now the default, on any capable machine. setup now walks you through three ways for sol to think — local (the default), your own AI engine (byo), or confidential processing (coming, scouts first) — and sol never silently reaches for a cloud model on its own; if nothing's chosen, it tells you plainly instead.
0.8.3 also added a relationship layer that connects people, projects, decisions, and documents already in your journal — no invented links, just what's already there — plus steadier local thinking under busy stretches and a smoother first speaker setup.
upgrading from an older gemini-era install? your existing setup is grandfathered — nothing changes until you open the thinking app yourself.
