getting sol on windows
sol runs on windows as a pairing client — it experiences your day on this PC and sends what it takes in to a journal running on a mac or linux machine. the journal itself doesn't run on windows yet, so you'll need a journal already set up somewhere (or set one up first at solstone.app/install).
installing
three channels are live today, all pointing at the same signed installer:
- direct download — get the signed installer at https://solstone.app/download/windows. it sets up sol on this PC and pairs it with your journal.
- winget —
winget install solstone
- scoop —
scoop install solstone
the "unknown publisher" / SmartScreen prompt
windows may warn about an unrecognized publisher or show a SmartScreen prompt the first time you run the installer. the signature is real — sol pbc's code-signing reputation is still building as a newer publisher, and that warning fades as more people install it.
pairing with your journal
on first launch, sol looks for a journal to pair with. point it at the journal running on your mac or linux machine, and it starts sending what it takes in there — same as any other device on your journal.
keeping it up to date
